Nina Dzhembekova

Designation: Associate Professor. Dr. Nina Dzhembekova is a researcher in the Marine Biology and Ecology Department at the Institute of Oceanology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on marine microalgal biodiversity and harmful algal blooms (HABs), with particular emphasis on the application of molecular approaches for species detection and identification. Her work includes DNA barcoding and metabarcoding, molecular taxonomy, and the integration of molecular and microscopy-based methods for studying phytoplankton diversity and monitoring harmful algal species.
